Wild orchids

One of the subjects I love to photograph is wild orchids.
I’m extremely fascinated by these wonderful beings that are constantly evolving to survive.

The characteristic of attracting pollinators is a strategy that all flowers share,
but with orchids, each species has evolved to attract one or more specific insect species,
and this always leaves me amazed.

When I’m in the presence of these “intelligent” subjects, I stop to admire them, walking around them,

waiting for them to tell me a story.

Then, I take a macro lens and start searching for it.

One of the ways I like to portray these subjects is by isolating them from their environment,
making them true beacons, reference points for the insects they attract.

When I get closer to the subject, these lenses don’t allow me to keep the entire subject in focus,
so I can concentrate only on specific details.

This way of seeing makes me feel like an insect moving in a place without dimension or gravity,
a cosmos where points, lines, surfaces, and colors create a fourth dimension.

Enjoy the view.
